Since February 24, 2022, history is being played out right before our eyes in the invasion by Russia on Ukraine.

Our hearts go out to the people of Ukraine who are valiantly fighting for their freedom and democracy.  It is especially sad and inconceivable that any country would deliberately attack defenseless women and children as witnessed in the bombing of the maternity hospital in the port city of Mariupol in Ukraine by the Russian military on March 9, 2022. Too often, attacks on medical facilities are becoming commonplace during war. This NPR article describes the reasons behind this wartime crisis.

We pray and hope for peace to reach the Ukrainian people quickly.

Each and every woman should be recognized for her unique daily contributions to her family, community, and society. During this month of celebrating the legacies of women in history, we must also remember those affected by conflict and war around the world who are looking for hope and to heal.
