2015 Catalyst Fund Template

This fund is used to support a variety of activities consistent with PAAWBAC’s mission, frequently by working with other agencies. This year, our fundraising supported the following programs:

Mentorship:

S.F. Department on the Status of Women Executive Director, Dr. Emily Murase, mentored Sarah Maya De Guzman to conduct policy analysis and public outreach on human trafficking, particularly in the Asian community. She worked alongside the Mayor’s Task Force on Human Trafficking and on an anti-violence youth empowerment/public education campaign to address bullying, teen dating violence and adolescent relationship abuse in our schools and communities.

Targeted Support:

Freedom House provides safe home and long-term aftercare to survivors of human trafficking. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, Freedom House works closely with law enforcement and community partners to identify survivors of human trafficking and to provide them with the care and services they need to rebuild their lives. PAAWBAC’s support is helping Asian Pacific Islander women survivors break the cycle of exploitation and create a new future for themselves.

Scholarship:

A Place Of Her Own An Arts & Healing Residency is a culturally driven, arts and healing program designed to deeply transform those who are willing to take full responsibility for their own healing by providing the tools, perspective and support to move forward through innovative arts. PAAWBAC funded two scholarships for API women to participate in their Arts and Healing Residency, a joint project of the Asian American Women Artists Association.
