Network '03

PAAWBAC hosted a networking reception on May 14, 2003, in celebration of API Heritage month. The event, held in the elegant Wattis Room at Davies Hall in San Francisco, brought together elected and appointed officials, leaders from local and state government, community-based agencies, philanthropic foundations and the business sector.

An audience of about 80 people listened to three points of view on the subject of “Impact of Women Leaders During These Uncertain Times.” We heard from Mabel Teng, San Francisco City Assessor; Patti Chang, President & CEO, The Women’s Foundation (who graciously supplied us with a copy of her speech); and Susan S. Muranishi, Alameda County Administrator.

A special presentation was made to Nordstrom, an outstanding leader in the business community.

Proceeds from the event were directed to PAAWBAC’s Catalyst Fund.

In 2003, we developed the Mentorship Program to take advantage of the leadership abilities of scores of past Woman Warriors. Catalyst Funds were granted to three Woman Warriors as mentors and announced at Network ’03.

The evening was capped by a rousing solo piano performance by Claudine Cheng.
