Christine Padilla

Christine is a Bay Area native who holds a degree in American Studies from University of California, Santa Cruz. While at UCSC, she held the newly created position of Diversity Outreach Coordinator at college radio station KZSC as part of the prestigious Chancellor’s Undergraduate Internship Program (CUIP).  In 2005, Christine joined the staff of the late Congressman Tom Lantos as a full-time Senior Liaison to the Filipino Community and Special Assistant.  Her responsibilities included advising Congressman Lantos on Asian American and Pacific Islander and Latino Issues and supporting his human rights agenda through collaboration with local, national and international human rights advocates.

Christine serves on the Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse (CORA) Domestic Violence Task Force and the Filipino Mental Health Initiative Oversight Committee.  She is a Delegate for the San Francisco Manila Sister City Committee and traveled with Mayor Gavin Newsom to the Philippines as part of San Francisco’s Economic and Cultural Trade Mission.  In 2005, Christine helped found the Asian Heritage Street Celebration in San Francisco, which brought in over 100,000 attendees in 2007.
