Angela Chan

June 1, 2008

Angela is the Oregon-born daughter of Chinese immigrants.  She received her undergraduate degree in Sociology from Occidental College, where she graduated summa cum laude, and her Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School, where she graduated cum laude.  While at Harvard, she served as Co-President and Community Service Chair for the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. Angela then worked in San Diego as a law clerk for U.S. District Court Judge Napoleon A. Jones, Jr.

In 2007, Angela joined the Asian Law Caucus as a Staff Attorney and Soros Justice Fellow.  The fellowship, from the Soros Foundation’s Open Society Institute, enabled Angela to launch a program to provide direct legal representation to low income immigrant parents with children in the juvenile justice system.  Through this work, Angela explains the juvenile justice process to parents and guardians and helps families better advocate for their children.
