Amy is a 4th generation Japanese American (Yonsei) and native San Franciscan. She is nominated for her outstanding volunteer work in the Japanese American community. In 2004, Amy joined the board of Japanese Community Youth Council (JCYC), a 39-year-old non-profit dedicated to serving Bay Area children, youth and their families, and was elected Board Chairperson in 2006. Under her leadership, JCYC has developed a five-year strategic plan to align core activities and programs under the revised organization mission. She also takes her role outside of board meetings and agency events, to speak on behalf of JCYC in and outside the community.
Amy has also volunteered with Kimochi, Inc., a non-profit serving the elderly in San Francisco and the Bay Area, for 8 years and co-chaired their annual fundraiser, Sansei Live!, for the past two years, coordinating multiple components and over 100 volunteers. She also dedicates her time to Cherry Blossom Festival and Nihonmachi Street Fair. In her professional life, Amy works as Executive Assistant to the senior vice president at Sony Computer Entertainment America.
